We offer a tour of our full cycle, sustainable farm outside Austin in Ceres Park as well as the opportunity to take tours with our brew partners at Jester King’s. As you may know, at Logro Farms we utilize the spent hops from Jester King to grow delicious mushrooms, herbs, and an assortment of veggies. In turn, the fruits of our labor literally become the ingredients in Jester King’s beer and Stanley’s Pizza.
Since we specialize in growing mushrooms and we’ve shared a couple of tasty recipes on our blog for you to try, we thought it would be a good idea offer some beverage recommendations next time you’re feasting on the fruits of fungi. Here are a few wines and beers that pair well with our oyster mushroom kit.
Mushrooms contain an ingredient called umami that give them an intense nutty or meaty texture when cooked. Umami naturally goes well wines like Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon and even vintage champagnes
Beers can be a little trickier to pair due to unfamiliarity by many. However, they can work very well together with mushrooms particularly if they are dark lagers and ales. These types of beers don’t tend to be as popular or mainstream, but pairing one with intense, earthy mushroom flavor will show you why it makes sense.
A Beer Made from Mushrooms?
Our buddies at Jester’s Brewery have gone all out and combined our efforts at Logro Farms into something absolutely one-of-a-kind. Snörkel is a Farmhouse Ale brewed with Oyster Mushrooms and sea salt. Snörkel is brewed with oyster mushrooms from Logro Farms in Austin, Texas and alderwood smoked sea salt. It takes inspiration from traditional German gose, but sets out to explore the curiosities of umami. Unfiltered, unpasteurized, 100% bottle conditioned.
