This cave is known as La Cave des Roches, which in french simply means “the cave of mushrooms”. This network of catacombs and caves is found in France’s Loire Valley and extends nearly 75 miles. Inside the depths are millions of mushrooms being commercially grown for consumption. The caves used to be used for mining white limestone for hundreds of years.

This art piece is a literal living work. it was made using 3D printed materials that let the structure have a honey-comb network inside. The piece was then inoculated with spores. As the fungi grows inside and eats away at the artwork, it fruits and produces beautiful clusters of mushrooms. Amazing!

Oh Hiiii! What’s that in the pot? Not what was planted! When people go to the nursery and buy plants, they may go home with something more than they paid for. Fungi live in the soil waiting for the righ conditions to spread out and send up those delightful shroomies.

Some people are taking bonsai to a whole other level. While traditional bonsai focuses on working with typically old-growth trees that take decades to reach their final form, some aficionados have decided that the temporal also has its place in the technique. We think it’s incredibly charming.
