It’s getting to be that time of year already where the humidity is trying to keep pace with the rising temps. As if these two weren’t mischievous enough on their own they’ve combined forces to make even the oh-so-early days of summer quite warm. With summer comes late nights outdoors, memories made with families and friends, bonfires, beer, and short-sleeve shirts. What else goes great with great with beer? We’d like to recommend our Logro farms Oyster Mushroom kit battered and fried as your next summer snack hit!
1 lb fresh mushrooms (cleaned with stems removed)
1 cup flour
1 cup water
2 cups breadcrumbs
Oil for frying
Two bowls. In one mix flour, water, and egg. Breadcrumbs go in other bowl.
Mushrooms are dipped in batter. Once coated, roll them in the breadcrumbs until they’re dry to the touch. Repeat for each.
Fill a deep skillet with oil. Leave at least two inches free at the top so you won’t have oil bubbling out of it. Heat the oil to between 350 – 375 degrees F. Test temperature beforehand.
Drop your coated mushrooms in the skillet. Use tongs to avoid burning yourself. Deep fry until they are a golden brown, turning over when needed.
Don’t fry too many at once. Fry your mushrooms in smaller batches rather than one large batch.
Use your tongs to remove the mushrooms. Let them drain on a paper towel. Serve immediately.
